Below is a short summary of the latest Community Meeting, followed by its chat logs – which have been gently edited for formatting, to put questions and answers in bold for easy skimming, and to omit greetings and farewells and other such asides. Meetings are hosted by Estate owner NeoBokrug Elytis at 2:00 pm on the last Saturday of every month at The Potato Farm in The Wastelands, and the discussion is typically divided into three main topics: Estate, Game, and Roleplay & Events. Everyone is welcome to attend!
ESTATE:
➳ Project Uplift is complete, and all Second Life regions are now hosted in the cloud! After a few rough weeks, many issues are starting to be smoothed out, and performance is improving.
➳ The usual annual “Christmas crunch” is happening, and occupancy is down since October: not ideal, but okay.
➳ Neo’s been testing a new Estate audio stream which landowners would be able to rent for free – but the current iteration has some flaws; he’ll be starting over.
➳ Preliminary work is underway for SECRET PROJECT – which Neo can hopefully tell us about before the end of the year.
➳ Neo is dusting off the Wastelands Public Works program! If you’re a content creator, if you’re good at communicating info, or you have other skills you want to share, please send him an IM!
➳ The Visitor Center / RP Wing and the Burnt Oak redesign are still on hold until the Secret Project is done.
➳ The new Press Blog theme is up, but still being tinkered with.
➳ Do you know HTML or CSS? Neo will gladly accept some help with updating the main website.
GAME:
➳ Trader Update! Alden has been upgraded: he’ll now namedrop characters he’s interacted with before. Also, he’s animesh!
➳ Most of Alden’s updates were under the hood, however: logging is now more detailed, EXP will now be refunded correctly in the rare event of errors on task setup, and the scripts themselves have been polished up and refactored.
➳ This year’s Halloween task was scaled back somewhat from Neo’s original plans – but was still well-received.
➳ Giftmas collectables will spawn from December 18 through New Year’s Day.
➳ Saul the Food Trader is still dead.
ROLEPLAY & EVENTS:
➳ Early Notice – WL14B: The Wastelands’ 14th Birthday celebration will take place from Friday, January 15 through Sunday, January 17, 2021!

➳ Irk will soon be rolling out Bleedy the Dirtman, a festive holiday horror for everyone to decorate.
➳ The Apo’s Audio Atrocities Giftmas Craptacular, a cavalcade of weird holiday music, will happen on Saturday, December 19.

NeoBokrug Elytis: The current implementation of the estate audio stream setup I’ve been testing for the past month, and wanted to use has a few issues. I will probably start over on it. It is something I wanted to have current residents click a box to get a stream for 24 hours; kind of as an added value feature. I’m not giving up on it but I’ll probably shelve it for now and start over later.

NeoBokrug Elytis: I hope the Halloween Task was fun! I had a severe creative block leading up to making it. Then when deadline panic set in, the block went away. However, the task I had planned would take more work than I had time for. SO I just took a couple small bits of it to make this years Halloween Task.

NeoBokrug Elytis: I should probably take that scripts vendor down… But going back to Alden: I wanted to add better logging on my end to him, but I ran out of quest crate memory at the very end. It compiled with 63k out of 64k. I didn’t know they were crashing at the very end. I ended up making something to listen for that. So I had to refactor a huge chunk of him and split some stuff into a different script. So again, another weekend project took a week to fix.
