Below is a short summary of the latest Community Meeting, followed by its chat logs – which have been gently edited for formatting, to put questions and answers in bold for easy skimming, and to omit greetings and farewells and other such asides. Meetings are hosted by Estate owner NeoBokrug Elytis at 2:00 pm on the first Saturday of every month at The Potato Farm in The Wastelands, and the discussion is typically divided into three main topics: Estate, Game, and Roleplay & Events. Everyone is welcome to attend!
ESTATE:
➳ Occupancy has held fairly stable, with a few new residents!
➳ Summer months often have a slump in participation and land ownership – but, this summer, people might be going out more and trying to “make up” for the past two years.
➳ A few RL emergencies kept Neo from being able to work on as many things as intended.
➳ The Great Fissure renovations are now complete! Though one small surprise may be yet to come.
➳ Work began on the inworld Land Store, beginning with the backend development.
➳ There have been a few issues reported with day cycles “stalling,” but Neo attended a meeting recently where Rider Linden said new EEP features and fixes are on the way.
➳ All other development has had to be put on hold to focus exclusively on Northgate: the starting area needs to be fleshed out and finished in the next few weeks.
➳ Volunteers are still welcome to join the Wastelands Public Works program to help with Northgate!
GAME:
➳ The kill-counters have been taken out of the WL: Turkey Buzzards, now that the Joon Buzzard Hunt is complete.
➳ The last Great Fissure “surprise” will have some kind of interrelationship with the Game, but it’s still in the works.
➳ The Potion Quest may be reviewed to make sure the Fissure updates didn’t remove any locations – and may get some new locations in the new features.
➳ Neo is developing an idea for a Buzzard-related quest.
➳ There’s still a Wastelands Game API that would allow an object owner to see the health percentage, and possibly hunger, of a user who touches that object. It may be updated later to include Hydration.
➳ Traveling, the RL emergencies, and the approaching due-date for the starting area of Northgate have meant that Neo wasn’t able to prioritize much time to game development.
ROLEPLAY & EVENTS:
➳ The Joon Buzzard Hunt is complete! The winner with 46 kills is TheForgottenBoy, 2nd Place with 16 kills is Wasteland Drifter, and 3rd place with 14 kills is RockinAngel. Prizes have been distributed – and every hunter will also receive a token of Irk’s esteem!
➳ Discord notifications seem to be behaving a little better.
➳ A Google Calendar of events is in the testing phase.
➳ Rapa Tone may put together an event in The Wastelands in July.
➳ Reminder: The roleplay character template has been added to the Wiki – add yours today!

I. THE ESTATE

NeoBokrug Elytis: As per previous community meetings; we’ll be talking about the three main aspects of the estate — with time for questions and discussion between each major category. The major categories are Land & Estate, The Game, Roleplay & Events. We’ll be starting up with Land and Estate.
NeoBokrug Elytis: This past month occupancy has stayed same-ish, with a slight gain in new residents. But I don’t see any here right now. :)

NeoBokrug Elytis: I’ve been reading around that this summer is supposed to be very busy with folks getting “revenge” on being cooped up for 2+ years of pandemic. So I don’t anticipate as strong of growth as we usually get in the summer. May DID have a nice rebound though. We’ll take what I can get.

NeoBokrug Elytis: I have had to switch gears hard and work on Northgate… I think I have a couple weeks and that’s it to get it “usable” or else. If the past years weren’t so garbage (for everyone), I think we’d be a lot further along.
NeoBokrug Elytis: So my main focus right now is Northgate, as much as I want to get that land store done. :(
NeoBokrug Elytis: I think that’s about it for land and estate stuff.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I am sure I an forgetting fun details. Like how I had 4000 prims rezzed, and couldn’t pick them up for a sub-project of the land store.

NeoBokrug Elytis: I need to “open” up the RegApi, and probably task a graphical person with taking at least a snapshot of each starter avatar on a greenscreen background to crop that out.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I need to finish decorating several of the paths laid out.
NeoBokrug Elytis: It’s not going to be my initial vision of what I wanted to open with, but I have seen other Community Gateways and… yeah.
NeoBokrug Elytis: However, I can still keep working on it while we have the base of it done.

II. THE GAME
NeoBokrug Elytis: I’ve pulled out the “counting” scripts from the buzzards. The funny thing about the JOON buzzard hunt is, I slapped it together real fast because 1) I put it off, and 2) last months emergency just began. So I didn’t test it.

NeoBokrug Elytis: And I didn’t check existing data. And I made sloppy edits to last years scripts.
NeoBokrug Elytis: But, in the end it all worked out, and working out was the best I could ask for. :)

NeoBokrug Elytis: I know Rider Linden has some fixes and feature request JIRAs that are being worked on and/or fixed.

NeoBokrug Elytis: He told me last Tuesday they’re almost done.

NeoBokrug Elytis: I haven’t been able to attend many of the meetings this past month due to aforementioned reasons — but they have been pretty good about fixing things timely.

Aposiopesis Fullstop: It’s been LITERAL YEARS, so I’m not even sure if it works for this current version of the HUD – but you mentioned an API earlier, so it reminded me. Didn’t there used to be an API thing for The Wastelands HUD?
Aposiopesis Fullstop: (And is there still?)
NeoBokrug Elytis: The API only allows the owner of an item that a user touches an item to get health%, possibly hunger too. However I think it would need an update for hydration
NeoBokrug Elytis: Specifically touches. It was for RP reasons.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Ahhhhh, okay; I couldn’t remember what all it entailed.
