Below is a short summary of the latest Community Meeting, followed by its chat logs – which have been gently edited for formatting, to put questions and answers in bold for easy skimming, and to omit greetings and farewells and other such asides. Meetings are hosted by Estate owner NeoBokrug Elytis at 2:00 pm on the first Saturday of every month at The Potato Farm in The Wastelands, and the discussion is typically divided into three main topics: Estate, Game, and Roleplay & Events. Everyone is welcome to attend!
ESTATE:
➳ Occupancy continues to climb as more people move into Malady Bog!
➳ The Free Move Program has been reinstated, except for moves to and within Malady Bog: those are still on hold until August.
➳ There’s been a small increase on parcel prices – not tier – to [(two weeks worth of tier) + (L$1.5 x the prim count)]
➳ Neo’s looking into an issue with the Estate Windlight that causes the sun or moon to lurch forward and back a few times throughout the day.
➳ Ironblood has migrated to Malady Bog, and is offering to give away any of his five Wastelands plots for free for their remaining time (about two weeks.) Contact him if you’re interested!
➳ Terrain textures will soon support PBR (physically-based rendering) when SL itself does, so the land textures may be updated in the not-too-distant future.

GAME:
➳ Salvage now spawns in Malady Bog.
➳ So do Mushrooms.
➳ And so do Miasmata – twice as often as anywhere else.
➳ The improved pathfinding “wandering” code has not been implemented yet, but will be applied to the Miasma and the Dust Devil soon.
➳ Buzzards will soon be updated for improved… “flying.”
➳ Neo is working on recoding the HUD to best implement LinkSet Data and keep memory use low: grafting LSD onto the existing system was making memory use worse.
➳ More DoTs may be in the works soon, now that visible DoT effects are back.
➳ More quest stuff is in the works, as well.
ROLEPLAY & EVENTS:
SL20B
➳ The Wastelands will have an exhibit at the SL20B celebrations starting June 22nd! A build is already underway.
➳ Neo may create a small and easy daily quest at the exhibit.
➳ Knowledgeable Wastelanders will be welcome to lurk there to convert assist and inform visitors. (Mind the G rating.)
➳ The Joon Buzzard Hunt is now live, sponsored by Irk! Kill buzzards for glory and prizes!
➳ A Manimal mafia may be congealing in Malady Bog, led by a frogman known as The Bogfather.
➳ It seems like a particularly hot season, so Ghouls who are dehydrated may be a little more… cranky.

NeoBokrug Elytis: Start with Estate & Land; Occupancy has been going up rather well!
NeoBokrug Elytis: Even with the addition of Malady Bog, we’re still pushing some good growth. There’s been a good chunk of folks getting some land in Malady, and I can’t speak for the folks who live there now — but feedback overall about the region seems to be very good. :)

NeoBokrug Elytis: Parcel purchase prices went up by half a linden per Prim, to 1.5; this only affects the initial purchase price and is *NOT* a tier increase.

NeoBokrug Elytis: The free move program is back, but with the limitation where moves TO and WITHIN Malady Bog are on hold until August. That doesn’t seem to be slowing people down from getting some land there, but I do understand it’s a bit of a pain point.

NeoBokrug Elytis: This year is SLs 20th Birthday, and The Wastelands will have a presence in the SL20B celebrations. I’ll talk more about that near the RP & Events — but we’re working on the build for that now.

NeoBokrug Elytis: Oh, one thing I forgot to note, but is on my radar. The land textures for the entire estate will change at some point in the future. I cannot promise when, but we’ll be adopting the PBR materials. I have been following the developments of that feature closely. They’re going to have tri-planar mapping for folks with High or better SL settings, which will completely remove the stretched look of land on steep inclines.

NeoBokrug Elytis: Because during the pandemic I build all these systems for the HUD, and they’re not being utilized. Then the new LinksetData feature SHOULD be freeing up so much more memory for me, but a half-assed pass at trying to free up memory only consumed more memory. So I started coding a new HUD from scratch. If I can offload some of those single use functions or long strings of data, I can have a nice new base for the HUD without all the duct-tape holding it together.
