Below is a short summary of the latest Community Meeting, followed by its chat logs – which have been gently edited for formatting, to put questions and answers in bold for easy skimming, and to omit greetings and farewells and other such asides. Meetings are hosted by Estate owner NeoBokrug Elytis at 2:00 pm on the first Saturday of every month at The Potato Farm in The Wastelands, and the discussion is typically divided into three main topics: Estate, Game, and Roleplay & Events. Everyone is welcome to attend!
ESTATE:
➳ The Wastelands’ 17th Birthday celebration was on Jan 19-21 – and we were featured in the Destination Guide and as an Editor’s Pick, as well!
➳ In slightly-related sister city news, Caeldon has a spot in the Welcome Hub Community Expo, and Neo was on a recent Lab Gab episode discussing it (with some mention of The Wastelands, as well.)
➳ In the future, The Wastelands may also have a Community Expo spot.
➳ Occupancy has gone up, in part due to the post-WL17B Hangover Sale.
➳ Neo reminds everyone that, if you’re having difficulties paying tier, to contact him and let him know: he’ll avoid reclaiming your land for as long as possible.
➳ The Tier Grace Period, which lasts up to a max of 14 days, is meant to be a fallback in case you can’t pay on time and also can’t let him know right away.
➳ While he gives the benefit of the doubt, if Neo suspects someone is abusing the Grace Period to avoid paying on time, it will be revoked for them.
➳ Neo is still working on the system to make all of a person’s parcels due on the same date.
Homestead Price Reduction
➳ Homestead tier has gone down, and Neo is now selling parcels at cost in North Yard and Hambone Slough – making their price per LI about the same as on a full region.
➳ Cormac and The Rot have also had their tier reduced.
➳ The Sand Seas will also have the cheaper Homestead price model, once it’s been renovated.
➳ Unless LL changes things about Homestead costs or other factors, Neo will not be buying any more Homesteads for the Estate: full regions or bust.
GAME:
➳ Neo is testing out a new iteration of Miasma pathfinding logic, which should help them stop getting returned or stuck at parcel boundaries.
➳ If this version is satisfactory, it’ll be adapted to new critters; Slimes, Rats, and possibly Lizards!
➳ These new mobs will probably be huntable, and may drop loot.
➳ There’s been an increase in people playing the game.
➳ Neo reminds everyone to follow the game rules: if you’re HUDded, you’re fair game to be fought by anyone, any time, for any reason or lack of reason; however, do NOT start any fights at the Masheens, and do NOT deHUD in the middlle of a fight.
➳ If Neo has to intervene, someone involved will either get warned, get suspended, or get perma-banned.
➳ If you’re afraid of combat, or you don’t want to interact with a certain person, that’s why there’s a Local Chat message that tells you who’s entered the region: so you can deHUD before a fight can begin. Or be prepared to negotiate safe passage – or call friends for backup.

NeoBokrug Elytis: I’ve also reduced tier for any parcel that is on a homestead, to just the cost I pay. I sent out a big long notecard explaining why; but in summary — homesteads have always been a hard sell. Except they give us big places to play in.
NeoBokrug Elytis: All affected parcels had their tier lowered to what I pay. The Prims per L$ cost is now same-ish as full regions.

No one owns the salvage masheens, and if you prevent people from doing basic stuff to advance their game, we’re going to have words. See what happens when I get involved above.

Sketchkat Blackflag: as sad as it is, I’m glad the game aspect isn’t all in the HUD and actually lose items from there… have played a game in here like that and hated it
Aposiopesis Fullstop: You only heal up to 25% naturally without metabolizing food, using Medkits, using the Healing Machine, etc. So there’s some potential resource loss.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: But you can also still play at 25% health and Emaciated / Dehydrated – you’re just flimsy.

NeoBokrug Elytis: Rax: Dying has no permanent consequences. Just inconvenience.
