Below is a short summary of the latest Community Meeting, followed by its chat logs – which have been gently edited for formatting, to put questions and answers in bold for easy skimming, and to omit greetings and farewells and other such asides. Meetings are hosted by Estate owner NeoBokrug Elytis at 2:00 pm on the first Saturday of every month at The Potato Farm in The Wastelands, and the discussion is typically divided into three main topics: Estate, Game, and Roleplay & Events. Everyone is welcome to attend!
ESTATE:
➳ This meeting was held on a Sunday due to a time conflict with its usual time and Caledon’s “Battle of Wits” fundraiser for Relay For Life.
➳ Occupancy has held steady, but often trends upward during the summer.
➳ Neo is looking into advertising The Wastelands and/or its events.
➳ After he finishes remodeling a Caledon region, Neo’s full-time focus will be on Northgate: it needs to be completed by the end of September.
➳ He’s recently added “ghosts” that demonstrate what the tutorial inputs do – modeling walking, flying, etc.
➳ Neo could use help finding or making certain assets and decor for Northgate – while avoiding game rips. If you’d like to help, contact him ASAP.
➳The Wastelands may also participate in the Welcome Hub Community Expo.
GAME:
➳ The Northgate “ghosts” use some of Neo’s new navigation code, featuring a function the Miasma doesn’t have yet. He still intends to add that navigation code.
➳ If he applies that new code to the Misama, and it performs as expected, he may apply it to a Zombie for testing.
➳ The egg spawn stayed active far longer than intended. Happy extended Revival!
➳ Neo needs to update the buzzard kill counter for the Joon Buzzard Hunt. It’s tracking properly, but the local chat isn’t reporting properly.
➳ Caledon may get its own resource-retrieval quest sometime, modeled after Doktor Aeg’s quests.
➳ For those who prefer to play their games with a controller, Neo has heard that LL is working on official gamepad and joypad support with additional inputs.
➳ Aeg’s Potion Quest may return soon – and he still seeks new locations! If you’re a landowner and you’d like your location to be part of the task, see the relevant page of the Wiki for more details!
ROLEPLAY & EVENTS:
➳The Joon Buzzard Hunt is now on! L$2000 to the Most Deadly Hunter, 2nd Place gets L$500, 3rd place L$250. All three finalists also get a Mutant Hunter’s Talisman trophy.
➳ Everyone who kills at least three buzzards is also entered into a contest to win a single available plot of their choice in The Wastelands or Caledon, plus four weeks of tier! See link for full details.
and Thank you to everyone who dressed up or DJ’d for PROMAGEDDON! There was no Fight Night, but Ccindy Pfeffer won the Stag Stab battle royale, and the outfit winners were Angharad Greggan and Trash Enthusiast.
➳ Neo has been restoring his lost work on the updated Burnt Oak encoding and stream, designed to normalize volume, increase video quality, and avoid dropped audio or stalled video.
➳ Pizza Day, a low-effort, all-day movie marathon, will happen some Saturday in July. Make a pizza. Share a picture of that pizza if you want. Eat that pizza. Good job.
➳ Apo will be swapping out occasional DJ sets for Wasted Karaoke, on no fixed schedule.
➳ Extremely advance notice that the all-day semi-in-character traders’ event, the Rondyvoo, will likely return in early September.

I. THE ESTATE
NeoBokrug Elytis: Okey dokey! As I mentioned earlier, it seems apparent that moving the meeting today — some folks wouldn’t be here. But it was for a good cause! The Caledon Battle of Wits raised about 80k total for RFL.

NeoBokrug Elytis: As per the usual, we’ll discuss the estate and land, the game, and then have an open floor for role play and events discussion. In between each category there’ll be time for questions and comments. :)
NeoBokrug Elytis: Starting with estate and land — occupancy has pretty much stayed the same since last month. I do however, expect an uptick as school starts to let out. That seems to be the norm these past years.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I am also looking in to … advertising … for both Caledon and The Wastelands. I’ll see if we can get some fresh blood in here. I don’t know is LL is doing a great job of promoting SL, or things are just stagnant, or what. But I’m trying to adapt.
NeoBokrug Elytis: The first ads will probably just be generic ad boards at places adjacent to Wastelands interests. Mostly music, we have a ton of events here, and many are music related.
Candide LeMay: is caledon also having lots of available lands?
NeoBokrug Elytis: Not as much, but we got it with almost 100% occupancy. It had a winter dip, but has pretty much been pretty solid. Few folks moving around — probably because the places to move are few and far between.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I am remodeling one of the regions there, and I’ll have more parcels available once done.

NeoBokrug Elytis: Once I finish that region remodel, I am bringing full time attention to getting Northgate done. I won’t work on anything else until that is officially open. If I can get it open, we can always add to it as we go.

NeoBokrug Elytis: And LL is getting… impatient with me.

NeoBokrug Elytis: I have been delegating in Caledon, and I made a new Alt just to be sort of an asset storeage alt for The Wastelands and Caledon, to decorate with. For Northgate I do need some help, mostly with hunting down assets that aren’t game rips. I spend a lot of time on that.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Right now I just need to finish a lot of decor, and rewrite the doc about free / premium / plus / etc
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Decor sounds like something others should be able to do, yeah.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: I’ll help research those things, if given that list of what you need.
NeoBokrug Elytis: As per a few suggestions I’ve gotten, I’ve deployed some “ghosts” to show how the challenges work.
NeoBokrug Elytis: So one walks through the walking area. Another jumps over the car. Another flies across the acid pit, and another runs down.

II. THE GAME
NeoBokrug Elytis: The “Ghosts” in Northgate are using game code I made to help them navigate. They have a slick new function the current miasmas are missing that I want to incorperate.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Right now Miasmas wander pretty well, and they do a good job of getting off land they’re worried they might be returned from. But I want to change that so that they’re not scooting all the way across a region, and instead to a nearest point.
NeoBokrug Elytis: If that goes well, blending the updated miasma code, and the “ghost example” code, I may try to set up a smarter zombie to test.

I’ve been picking at it at late nights, or weekend days. Right now I am just finalizing and testing things on my end. But maybe this month I can try to have a special showing, to see how it works for folks again, before I start with the big change-over.

(Summer Beach Party at The Rot on the 22nd, probably, for instance!) But for those who like to caterwaul, but would rather not stay up until 9pm SLT, perhaps a 5pm start would work better. :P
