War Zone – Nov 7, 2009

Like many other things in The Wastelands, the winds, sands and feral creatures can certainly take a toll and scatter things about which were never meant to be lost. Finally, with the help of some supplimental notes from co-editor Sandusky, I bring you the following notes from War Zone, November 7, 2009.

Round One
Beginning on the Eye of the Storm map, the round got off to a quick start as Paytrok snatched up the flag and headed west through the quarry, then northwest around the hill to the Northern Garrisson, hiding in the basement while assailants from Team One tried to find him. Finally, the flag was passed off to Agustsa, who headed south back towards the areana, where it was passed off to Aposiopesis Enenra managed to steal the flag from her for a few moments after she headed north along the pipeline, only to have her pursue and take it back shortly afterward, thickly pursued by Doctor, Void, Oku and Jaster. Managing to weave around them for a ways, Aposiopesis finally dropped from radiation exhaustion and the flag was picked up by Paytrok, who headed south and passed the flag to VoidTraveller, who sped off towards the old Pipeline to the west, down in to the quarry, then up around the hill and back down the pipeline until the round concluded, revealing Team Two to be the clear winner of the round.

Round Two
Beginning with a clear map, Aposiopesis grabbed the flag and sped off south of the Potato Farm, then west and northward, only to be interrupted by Oku, who stole the flag and headed back in an easterly direction towards the Arena in an attempt to avoid the persuing Team Two.  Eventually, Paytrok was able to take the flag from her and running with it, though losing the flag momentarily to his teammate Aposiopesis in a moment of confusion.  Aposiopesis took the flag north, then west past the pipeline then transferred the flag back to Paytrok, who took it south through the quarry and back up the cliffsides towards the Southern Garrison.  He eluded capture for some time by hiding on top of the structure, though was eventually found and pushed off by Enenra.

Fleeing north, he passed the flag to VoidTraveller Seetan, who then took the flag and headed north.  Circling around the great hill several times, VoidTraveller then headed south to the pool, eventually falling there due to combat and radiation damage.  Riptorious picked up the flag shortly afterwards, passing off to Agustsa, who took the flag east, then south to the Potato Farm.  Syruss stole the flag there and circled the arena, himself losing the flag to Aposiopesis, who retained possession of the flag until the end of the round shortly afterward.

Again, Team Two demonstrated the ability to obtain and maintain a lead in the Warzone game and were rewarded with a hefty new Wastelands Platter, which includes bandages, ammunition, the Facecruncher and some machetes.

(( Editor’s Note:  Warzone happens on the first Saturday of each month.  Fight Nights also occur on each remaining Saturday of the month.  Both events occur at 3PM PDT and can be reached at Hambone Slash, The Wastelands. ))
