Below is the abridged chat log for the latest Wastelands Community Meeting. The Meetings, hosted by NeoBokrug Elytis (estate owner), are open to all and typically divided into three topics for discussion: Estate, Game, and Roleplay. Additional comments and questions pertaining to the topics discussed in this meeting can be posted on the forum when it automatically creates a new thread linking to this article. Community Meetings are held on the last Saturday of every month at 2:00 PM SLT at the Potato Farm arena in The Wastelands.
I. THE ESTATE
NeoBokrug Elytis: We’re gunna start!
NeoBokrug Elytis: As usual, this meeting is supposed to be an hour long, and after that we’ll have the War Zone event. Probably in The Great Fissure with the new lift installed.
NeoBokrug Elytis: We review the estate in 3 categories, starting with land related stuff, moving on to game related stuff, then finally an open discussion about RP.

[2013/07/27 14:01] NeoBokrug Elytis: As far as land goes, it’s been pretty quiet. There’s been an uptick in residency, which to be honest is a lot better than a downswing.
[2013/07/27 14:02] NeoBokrug Elytis: I do not have land for sale in Fort Stygian, as it’s all filled up! I also don’t have any land for sale in The Great Fissure, but there’s one tiny parcel for sale by a resident.
[2013/07/27 14:02] NeoBokrug Elytis: The majority of what is available is in The Wastelands and The Junkyard.

NeoBokrug Elytis: I think the switch in how pricing is done has helped a little, but that’s really a long-tail project that I won’t know how it works until a few months have passed.
[2013/07/27 14:04] NeoBokrug Elytis: I’ve been a bit more strict on reclaiming land due to how the pricing has changed, but hardly anyone has had land reclaimed because of it. Most people at least contact me and we work things out.
NeoBokrug Elytis: A project I have lined up for this month is to update my parcel fillers, because I bought a bunch more in theme junk. I will probably refresh all the empty parcels. :)

II. THE GAME
NeoBokrug Elytis: Perfectly Preserved Twonkies are back, but only acquirable from Saul. Thus keeping them rare, but not super rare.
Sam Wyx (sam.wyx): mmmmmmm
NeoBokrug Elytis: The first fishing alpha went okay, but not okay enough so it had a second one.
NeoBokrug Elytis: The second one was more in line with what I wanted. But I hardly have any feedback on either.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: /me didn’t have time to participate.

Aposiopesis Fullstop: One week only, and limited only to residents, is a small sample size.
The Digger (sandusky.kayvon): i barely had time to test Alpha2. Folks should post their comments and thoughts if they tested it! i will later today from what little i did
Pea (precious.peapod): end of summer alot to do before back to school so time is a lil limtied here
NeoBokrug Elytis: Yeah I understand that. Once I make some changes, build some dummy items, we’ll move to a beta which will be open to everyone.

Aposiopesis Fullstop: Mmm. There are few better words in gaming than “Open Beta.”
NeoBokrug Elytis: The beta will have items that you’ll need to test instead of just flavor text.
NeoBokrug Elytis: But like the alpha the beta items will expire after a certain date.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Bait is kind of tricky. What I am thinking is that you’ll have to have a fishing rod euipped, rez the bait, and click the bait.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Sounds pretty logical.
NeoBokrug Elytis: There will be a lot of inventory juggling because of it.
Sam Wyx (sam.wyx): can bait be found, or sold?
NeoBokrug Elytis: That way you can fish up bait without bait, and then bait for fish
NeoBokrug Elytis: When it’s release, bait can be sold
Sam Wyx (sam.wyx): ah
NeoBokrug Elytis: You can only fish up bait.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Aw, we can’t have a bait shop? Hee
Patrice Cournoyer: get working on the bait for sale signs
NeoBokrug Elytis: I was thinking of making an NPC that trades salvage for bait.
The Digger (sandusky.kayvon): i think Neo said you will be able to sell any bait you catch to other scavengers.
Asbin (hasbeenboresmore): is it live bait that can be used once or artificial lures that can be reused?
NeoBokrug Elytis: All bait is single used.
The Digger (sandusky.kayvon): is that accurate Neo?
NeoBokrug Elytis: Sandusky: Yes.
Patrice Cournoyer: will we be able to eat the bait?

NeoBokrug Elytis: Bait is to catch fish that you can eat.

Aposiopesis Fullstop: New players have 50% food when they start — so that’s 2.5 hours of food.
Patrice Cournoyer: yes Masaka you hear the sad groans as they starve
NeoBokrug Elytis: I thought new people started at 100%?
NeoBokrug Elytis: OH! I know what happened
NeoBokrug Elytis: When I doubled stomach sizes, I did not increase the starting amount
NeoBokrug Elytis: I will fix that.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: You doubled our “stomach size,” but our metabolism is just as fast.
Masaka Miliandrovic: /me feels bloated
NeoBokrug Elytis: No, metabolism isn’t doubled.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Even then, it’s only five hours until we starve — and we don’t find 100% BV worth of food in that time.

Aposiopesis Fullstop: Especially if we stop to talk — or stop to craft at the Masheens, for which you have to be HUDded and which can take time — it is bad.
NeoBokrug Elytis: How about this:
Aposiopesis Fullstop: I really, sincerely, think the metabolism rate needs to be at least halved, if not more.
Psycho Baroque: there is a trader for food
Patrice Cournoyer: oooh yeah clarification… if we are set to run, we metabolise faster, right?
Aposiopesis Fullstop: I don’t find enough scrap to trade to that trader, and that’s all the more true of new players.
Patrice Cournoyer: and even faster still if we have a weapon?
Masaka Miliandrovic: Should be a soup kitchen for FN fighters.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: New people can’t afford to trade away their scrap; they’re just starting out.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I make a new type of Aeg’s Stew, but you have to donate salvage to Aeg so he can trade to other scavengers to fill the stew, and it’s a community thing. Anyone can take a taste once every 18 houts, but it requires salvage to operate.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Or at least charge it up

Psycho Baroque: but yes the crates are harder to find
NickCitrus: What amount of BV would you have to put in?

Aposiopesis Fullstop: How much salvage would that cost? The whole thing I’m saying is that we don’t find enough crates to have the BV to trade to Saul for food.

Aposiopesis Fullstop: Any! That’s awesome!

NeoBokrug Elytis: I don’t think that the rate has changed at all.
Patrice Cournoyer: when the buzzards come we can kill them

Aposiopesis Fullstop: They give tasty and very filling legs.

Aposiopesis Fullstop: But, yes – they bite back. ;)
NeoBokrug Elytis: The buzzards are on my to do list, but that is a long project.

Cell (cellbae): is there something you need to do to eat a cactus if you collected one?
Aposiopesis Fullstop: What was wrong with them as they were, again?
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Cacti go into the cure for the Rustmouth Plague, Cell.
Cell (cellbae): oh! i been trying to figure out why i can’t eat it, lol
Angh (angharad.greggan): or you can trade them to saul for food
Aposiopesis Fullstop: That too; they’re tradeable like other stuff.
Cell (cellbae): that’s what i ended up doing
NeoBokrug Elytis: The buzzards have pretty severe brain damage, and when I changed how the salvage servers worked and deleted the old server, they couldn’t contact the new server and ingeneral they’re some of the oldest code around and really ugle.
Cell (cellbae): traded for food
Terrenn: or they give a lot of healing time on the machine
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Okay, so are you saying “The buzzards as they are completely don’t work,” or “The buzzards as they are don’t work as well as I’d like them to?”
Snakes Fang (snakes.fang): At all
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Because, well… I’d gladly endure some derpy buzzards if we wouldn’t be so screwed on food.
NeoBokrug Elytis: The buzzards completely don’t work
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Okay.

Aposiopesis Fullstop: I think the beetle code was the same sort of foundation as the buzzard code.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Months ago, I spent a week working on new buzzards, and I kind of shelved it out of frustration.
NeoBokrug Elytis: But yeah, I have a big backlog of game stuff to do
NeoBokrug Elytis: What do you think of community aeg stew?
