Community Meeting: September 2, 2021

Below is a short summary of the latest Community Meeting, followed by its chat logs – which have been gently edited for formatting, to put questions and answers in bold for easy skimming, and to omit greetings and farewells and other such asides.  Meetings are hosted by Estate owner NeoBokrug Elytis at 2:00 pm on the first Saturday of every month at The Potato Farm in The Wastelands, and the discussion is typically divided into three main topics: Estate, Game, and Roleplay & Events.  Everyone is welcome to attend!

(EDITOR’S NOTE:  There are some Editor’s Notes sprinkled through this entry and the chat log to clarify or respond to some of the community’s missed questions.  Readers will need to skim through to find them.)

ESTATE:

➳ Occupancy has taken a significant hit in the last month, specifically in The Junkyard.  If you’ve been dreaming of making your home in the most gloriously garbagey region of the Grid, now’s your time!
➳ New assets have been made for the Northgate Community Gateway, and an assortment of the WLPW’s newest creations is now available in the Tier Payment area – free to all current residents.
➳ Discussion on how to make less-occupied regions more appealing: Neo’s considering an idea where, if a region reaches 75% occupancy, its remaining parcels will have a higher buy-in cost (but not higher tier) to help drive purchases in other regions.
➳ Some of the new creations made by the WLPW creators will be made available to residents this weekend.

GAME:
Recent Updates
➳ In addition to the new DoT processing system, Neo has also released a “soft launch” of the Hydration system and the Character Race system.
➳ The DoT processor – which is more accurately a Buff / Debuff processor now – will be getting one more major update before the next round of changes to existing DoT effects.
➳ Hydration and Hunger are currently linked – after squashing a bug where Medkits affected one but not the other.
➳ The HUD’s dice roller has been upgraded to be able to do more complex dice math – adding rolls, comparing values to targets, etc.
➳ The War Zone flag now irradiates a larger area around itself, and the radiation damage worsens over time (compared to “wild” radiation like from the Miasmata.)
➳ Arena traps have been updated to use fewer scripts. Pit traps now work slightly differently, and gas traps have a small chance of spewing fire.
➳ The code is in place to give Humans, Ghouls, Mutants, Manimals, and Botans different modifiers to their damage taken, resistance against DoTs, hunger and hydration maximums and metabolism, and healing rate – along with “one special usable ability” – but every character’s Playable Race is set to “None” for now.
Transition to V2
➳ Food and Water items will be the next ones reworked, using the upcoming Universal Salvage Scripts.
➳ The new versions will get a prefix of “WL2:” They will mark the transition into Version 2 of The Wastelands Game.
➳ Recipes, salvage items, weapons, Barter Values, and more will be changed or introduced.  (Editor’s Note:  The scope of recipe changes is yet to be determined.)
➳ There will be an exchange system to convert current items to WL2 items, but not necessarily at a one-to-one exchange rate.
➳ WL2 weapons will all have a wear-and-tear system, will be more accurate, and will have better hit/miss feedback.
➳ Barter Value will be dynamic and easily updated, so that Neo can update it to reflect an item’s actual usefulness. This includes Food: if something seems underpowered or overpowered, it can be changed without forcing an item exchange. These updates would be announced.
➳ This may mean that a crafted item’s BV isn’t always around the sum of its parts – but recipes will still be determinable through trial-and-error, or with the help of Henry.
➳ Once the new WL2 Food is out, old WL: Food will not work – but it will exchangeable, and old WL: Food will be usable in the Stew.
➳ Water will be acquired through privately-owned “workstations” that cost EXP, resources, and time to operate.
➳ Workstations will be expensive to obtain, will require repairs, and will be able to be set for personal use only or Group use only: they will not be public.  (Editor’s Note:  The community Cinderblock Stew will provide both food and hydration.)
➳ Wild Plants will start out wild – but will eventually become personal Workstations as well.
➳ The Buff/Debuff system will also incorporate drug effects.
➳ There’s no specific timeline for this, and it will be a slow series of updates and improvements, but the planned sequence is “Buffs/Debuffs update. Food Update. Races. Items Update. Weapons Update.”
➳ Saul the Food Trader is still dead.

ROLEPLAY & EVENTS:
➳ The Rondyvoo took place on August 28th, and was full of rusty, rustic fun. Particular thanks go out to Sandusky Kayvon for hosting the Knucklehead Knockabout, to PanPot for being a huntable Varmint, to Bartleby Ricantaur for tall tales, and to Diamanda Gustafson for performing some live early music!
➳ Neo and the Devs already have Halloween plans underway.
➳ Trick-or-Treating will return!  Neo will tune up last year’s script that will let residents give out random freebies on Halloween.
➳ TRIGGER TREAT, the Wastelands’ annual Halloween party, will happen on Saturday, October 30. If you want to DJ or perform live, contact Apo!
➳ Reminder: The roleplay character template has been added to the Wiki – add yours today!

NeoBokrug Elytis: IT’S… TIME.
NeoBokrug Elytis: As per the usual, we’ll discuss the three main aspects of the estate with time for questions in between each category: Land, Game, Roleplay & Events.
NeoBokrug Elytis: You’ll have to forgive me if I am a little slow today, I am super tired but I am pretty sure I can do this. :)
NeoBokrug Elytis: Starting with land and estate things/
NeoBokrug Elytis: Nothgate is making some nice progress this month. Assets are coming together. The WLPW has also put out a bunch of free new assets for landowners up at the tier panel.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Ooh, I keep forgetting to grab those!
NeoBokrug Elytis: When Northgate is done, all those asset distribution things will be moved into their own “store”; at least a place to consolidate them.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Occupancy took a huge hit this month when Dexter and Trashmen left The Wastelands. However, now that JY land is available again folks have been slowly creeping in. I am excited to see how the landscape changes.
Malice Shepherd: Keep it trashy.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I think that’s about it for estate stuff. New WLPW things, Progress on Northgate, occupancy.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Always!
Malice Shepherd: That was quick
Candide LeMay: JY is not the same without the crippling lag
NeoBokrug Elytis: Haha yeah. My focus this month has been… elsewhere.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Any questions about estate or land things?
Kotcheff (ramson.rover): Is the tunnel system gone with Dexter?
Bardy Dreamscape (lordbard.dreamscape): raises hand
NeoBokrug Elytis: Yes.
Kotcheff (ramson.rover): Ouch
NeoBokrug Elytis: If you have questions, just ask them.
Bardy Dreamscape (lordbard.dreamscape): is there a list of parcels available
NeoBokrug Elytis: https://land.the-wastelands.org/
Aposiopesis Fullstop: But nothing’s to stop new owners from making their own tunnel systems! :D
Bardy Dreamscape (lordbard.dreamscape): ty
Aposiopesis Fullstop: The tunnels have come and gone and come again and gone again over time.
NeoBokrug Elytis: True, and folks have been leveraging the dark layer to build proper dark tunnels with. :)
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Mmmmm, daaaaaarknessss….
Memory Harker eyes Beedit.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Any other estate or land questions?
Storm Thunders: and with Neo’s TPs, we could wire up tunnels from different regions too now
NeoBokrug Elytis: Good point.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: …I had not thought of that. Ooh.
Dassina Andel: Experience Keys are the shit.
NeoBokrug Elytis: If you cooperate with other builders, you could have a section of JY tunnels in the sky of The Great Fissure.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Or wherever your land is.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Moving on to game stuff..
NeoBokrug Elytis: I am not going to cover the TONS of updates I have made this month. I will drop two links and cover what’s NOT in those two links worth of updates.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: wooo!
NeoBokrug Elytis: First link: https://press.the-wastelands.org/2021/08/04/game-updates-the-unshackling-update/
NeoBokrug Elytis: Second Link: https://press.the-wastelands.org/2021/08/20/the-soft-launch-of-hydration-and-character-races-plus-much-more/
Memory Harker: Yay for many updates! Industries!
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): thanks!
NeoBokrug Elytis: There were only one or two bugs the updates listed, but they were quickly squashed.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: SPLAT!
NeoBokrug Elytis: More noticeably, was the one where Medkits added 5% hunger, but did also add 5% hydration. So things were out a sync for a bit. It has been fixed.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: …DIDN’T also add hydration?
NeoBokrug Elytis: Yes didn’t.
Candide LeMay: medkits make you more hungry?

EDITOR’S NOTE: Medkits will add both 5% Food and 5% Water and improve your chances to naturally heal from DoTs. This hydration bug fix builds upon changes made to Medkits in 2019 as noted here: https://press.the-wastelands.org/2019/09/25/2019-09-22-game-mechanic-updates/

NeoBokrug Elytis: I updated all the arena tiles to be one script. The tile that got the most work and re-enabling of a hud feature was the pit traps. We’ll see how that works out.
Dassina Andel: And, Spicy gas
NeoBokrug Elytis: Gas tiles still have a chance to do 50% damage, and 50% healing. However the damage has a small chance of not being traditional gas, but flames instead.
Memory Harker hopes the lava continues to be a Beedit-attractant.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: We’re gonna find out the fun way how small a chance that “small” is.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I updated the RP dice for folks to use in the HUD, I hope you don’t mind some copy-paste:
Malice Shepherd: FOR SCIENCE
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Maybe some of the pits could be fulla water?
NeoBokrug Elytis: A “minor” update, not quite relevant to the game in a direct way:

The dice rolling feature of the HUD on channel 4011 ( /4011 ) has been upgraded to include simple dice math, as well as a dice “ace” feature. You can add or subtract multiple different dice rolls, as well as adding bonuses or penalties. For instance

1d6 will roll one six sided die and give you the result.
1d6+1 will roll one six sided die and add one to the result.
5d10+3d6-1d4-5 will roll five ten sided dice add the result of rolling three six sided dice subtract the result of rolling one four sided die and then subtract five.
You can even use it to add or subtract numbers such as 10-5 or 15+10.
The greater operator “>” will sum up your roll so far, and subtract it from whatever is to the right of the greater operator, and make that result the new sum. It’s a wonky way to see if something is greater, where a positive number means it’s greater, while a negative number means it’s less.

Finally the “ace” feature. It’s a fun dice mechanic
NeoBokrug Elytis: in several tabletop games, where if you roll the highest number on a die, you get to roll again and add the result. And this can go on forever. For instance if you roll 1d6 and the result is a six, you get to roll it again and add it.

To use the ace feature, the dice formulate changes from 1d6 to 1a6, where a stands for ace.

I hope you all enjoy!
Storm Thunders: who farted?
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit) dies
NeoBokrug Elytis: I have had a lot of RL work this past month as well, so I have been holding off a bit on re-working the DoT processor, which I may as well just rename to the buff/debuff processor — as it’s more appropriate.
Memory Harker: o.O
Dassina Andel: WL: Rave Miasma
NeoBokrug Elytis: Any questions about those updates before I talk a bit more about game stuff?
Malice Shepherd: Actually yes
Candide LeMay: are dots supposed to interrupt potato harvesting? i was radiated the other day and just couldn’t harvest
Sandling Honey: thx Mem :D
Malice Shepherd: Is it d6 and down? or can we go up with the dice too?
NeoBokrug Elytis: if they do enough damage Candide: Yes
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): Aposiopesis Fullstop: Maybe some of the pits could be fulla water?…
Dassina Andel: Taking any damage during plant harvesting will interrupt.
Malice Shepherd: STAY OFF THE DAMN POTATOS
NeoBokrug Elytis: I will get to questions about water soon. That’s part of the next bit of discussion.
NeoBokrug Elytis: DoTs/Buffs, Hydration vs Hunger, Player Races: Any questions regarding any of that?
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Are you still taking some suggestions for potential player race differences?
NeoBokrug Elytis: Yes.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: (Not, like, NOW, but via Discord or notecard or whathaveyou.)
Malice Shepherd: I am stoked for WL: Racism to make a comeback XD
Irk (shannonwilsonbell): You’re just saying that because I’m green.
Malice Shepherd: WE DIDN’T CHOOSE THE GHOUL LIFE
Memory Harker: You mean that’s not EASY for you, Irk?
Malice Shepherd: Well. Some of us did.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: I mean, SOME people did!
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Hahaha!
NeoBokrug Elytis: There will be one more major update to the Buff/Debuff processor before I start rolling out updates to existing DoTs. Once that’s in, it clears the way for everything else.
Malice Shepherd: Hooray for hazards and pain!
NeoBokrug Elytis: Which brings us to the next point.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Is it still a seeeeekrit?
NeoBokrug Elytis: The next major update before races will probably be Food and Water items. These items will have names like: WL2 Blood Potato. It is the start of a transition to an updated game. Which means recipes, BVs, items in general will change. I am working hard to make sure that the game can still work in a hybrid mode for a while. That all depends on how long I can sustain a hybrid mode with script memory limitations.
Dassina Andel: http://www.quickmeme.com/img/3d/3d481f47b836e73877129e5e031dcc699147f377a7ca8a308e88fdc6937c8d8c.jpg
Aposiopesis Fullstop: V2!
Malice Shepherd: Okay if it gets bad will we have to use up or dump old items if we can’t slap them into a recipe?
NeoBokrug Elytis: And I want to not quite delete all existing game items, but I think a trade in for new items will have a cost multiplier. Like You need to have 3x of one thing to get 1x of a new thing. Something along those lines, based on how updated the item is.
Malice Shepherd: nvm
BlackWidow Sinister: does this mean we will have to relearn all the new recipes?
Malice Shepherd: That would not be a bad thing BW
BlackWidow Sinister: yes it would

(EDITOR’S NOTE: The scope of recipe changes are yet to be determined.)

NeoBokrug Elytis: There will be a way to acquire water. Folks will have their own “workstations” of sorts to process these things. They will of course cost time, XP, and resources to operate. You can set them to be personal use, or group only. There will not be a public option.
Bardy Dreamscape (lordbard.dreamscape): nods
Malice Shepherd: Oh I like the sound of that
NeoBokrug Elytis: There will also be varying qualities of water with appropriate buffs/debuffs. :P
Malice Shepherd: RUSHING WATER WHOOOOO
NeoBokrug Elytis: Workstations will be expensive.
Aposiopesis Fullstop chugs some manky swampwater.
Dassina Andel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJbmB9k2Y88
NeoBokrug Elytis: And require occasional repairs.
Malice Shepherd: I really like the sound of this
Storm Thunders: ooh a reason for gangs/clans to return
Memory Harker: o.O
Memory Harker hides in her small Ft. Stygian build.
Dassina Andel: So much yes.
Malice Shepherd: Racism AND CLASSISM. BEST UPDATE EVER.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I am pretty far along with the universal salvage script, which is being spit into two scripts. Salvage-weapons, and salvage-other. There’s too many variables and functions to store both in a single script.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I won’t announce the food “switch-over” date, but there’ll be a way to exchange, and the stew will still work as a sink for items.
NeoBokrug Elytis: But I felt you should all know it’s coming.
Candide LeMay: will there be an exchange of old food for new food?
Malice Shepherd: As long as we can make use of it or trade I ain’t worried
Malice Shepherd: HE JUST SAID TRHAT CANDIDE
NeoBokrug Elytis: I already answered that.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: NeoBokrug Elytis: I won’t announce the food “switch-over” date, but there’ll be a way to exchange,
NeoBokrug Elytis: NeoBokrug Elytis: And I want to not quite delete all existing game items, but I think a trade in for new items will have a cost multiplier. Like You need to have 3x of one thing to get 1x of a new thing. Something along those lines, based on how updated the item is.
Candide LeMay: ok
Malice Shepherd: *me has flashbacks of modem noises*
NeoBokrug Elytis: Any questions about any of that?
Dassina Andel: Is Joseph coming back as a Ghoul? https://wiki.the-wastelands.org/Joseph_-_(Dead)
NeoBokrug Elytis: Haha naw.
Malice Shepherd: Yeah I have one that may or may not be too specific
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Would weapons also be traded in?
NeoBokrug Elytis: That’s the idea Apo. I’ll talk about weapons in a bit.
Malice Shepherd: With the food update and benefits / debuffs, will there also be more side effects from things like purps?
NeoBokrug Elytis: Yes Malice. I plan to have lots of recreational drugs.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): \o/
Aposiopesis Fullstop puts THAT in the Quotes out of context. :V
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): haha yayy
Malice Shepherd: Now I can REALLY drug the water!
Malice Shepherd: Sweet.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Initially, they will be acquired with traders, but the plant system is going to be a big part of that.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): can we drug the stew? >.>
Malice Shepherd: LMAO
Malice Shepherd: That would be hilarious
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Still so stoked for plants.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I forget if I did that alreay beatrix.
Malice Shepherd: Imagine going for stew and leaving purped
NeoBokrug Elytis: If I didn’t I had planned it, and if it’s already part of the stew code, then I did it.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Too many purps.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: O__O
Dassina Andel: Are we going to finally have actual plant farming of sorts?
NeoBokrug Elytis: Yes.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): \o/
NeoBokrug Elytis: Firs tthey will be wild.
NeoBokrug Elytis: THen they will be expensive “workstations”
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): has been hoarding corn and beans
Malice Shepherd: This is gonna be a wild update. Sounds like everything is changing as far as roleplay and mechanics go. I like it
Memory Harker: :)
Bardy Dreamscape (lordbard.dreamscape): Neo, will our weapons need to be updated?
Aposiopesis Fullstop: All the stuff that’s been on the backburner for so long, finally underway!
Dassina Andel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVhTDNlbsSc
Malice Shepherd: You know what? This will open up a lot of passive roleplay for people not hell bent on fucking shit up for no reason like me.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Basically all things that players own that contribute to the game will be a “workstation”, they will have land sqm requirements, consume mostly time idling at them doing a “thing”, and EXP to work.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Weapons will get a major update when they go to WL2
Dassina Andel: Yesssssss.
Malice Shepherd: Nice
Malice Shepherd: I really like the sounds of this .
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6): Ooooh?
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): bring them more in line with each other so everyone not fighting with the same two weapons?

(Editor’s Note: In a follow-up with Neo about this question, he responded: I hope that weapons will have stylistic or situational preferences and to bring things into balance more than anything else.)

Bardy Dreamscape (lordbard.dreamscape): I am confused
NeoBokrug Elytis: They will all have wear and tear, but that system will be revamped. They will all use actual raycasting, but improved upon by what the fistwraps already provide.
Dassina Andel: It’s Rod Ruin, Redux. ^.^
Dassina Andel: *Rod of Ruin
Malice Shepherd: Still a fan of the food fight idea.
Malice Shepherd: Just saying.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Overall they should be more accurate, and I am going to make sure they have better feedback with regards to hits and misses.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne) throws a blood potato at Malice
Malice Shepherd brandishes an ear of corn menacingly
Aposiopesis Fullstop: “More accurate” always means “it’s easier to miss,” mind you.
Dassina Andel: Would help a LOT with Bows, at least hit indication
Malice Shepherd: There is hit indication. The blood splatter.
Dassina Andel: Yeah, but it’s not always easy to see. >.>
Malice Shepherd: Neither is an arrow mid flight :D
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Especially if you’ve got particles turned down.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Don’t forget that avatar size plays a part in damage output and damaged received.
Malice Shepherd: Fuck
Rax Stooge: I fucking love kid spatula.
Malice Shepherd: I am not growing just for a combat advantage.
Storm Thunders snickers
Memory Harker: Malice Shepherd: Neither is an arrow mid flight :D
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6): XD
Aposiopesis Fullstop: It’s meant to balance that out, so the short folks aren’t always at a big advantage.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): heh, if land is requirement, for some things, you’ll be seeing more Beezle :P
Dassina Andel: Bows, Fistwraps, and a few of the new melee weapons have the much better targeting currently. But when guns get the same… whooo boy.
Malice Shepherd: They aren’t if people look down and know where to swing.
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6): Or crouching
NeoBokrug Elytis: Oh, I forgot to mention, that hopefully Barter Value of things will FINALLY be dynamic.
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6): Then again on the rare ocassion AOs too depending on where they make you look
Verity Goodnight: oooh dynamic value
Aposiopesis Fullstop: So, like how some of the Eggs are higher or lesser BV?
NeoBokrug Elytis: So I can update it in SL, based on how often something is used in the game.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Oooh, I see.
Dassina Andel: Not “cycle through the Masheen” dynamic, either? >.>
Malice Shepherd: NICE
NeoBokrug Elytis: It could be worth more or less one week depending on game updates.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): which’ll muck with figuring out recipies?
NeoBokrug Elytis: Yeah Dass, I have thought about that problem.
Malice Shepherd: Nah Beatrix
NeoBokrug Elytis: Recipes can be learned with Henry.
Malice Shepherd: Who is Henry
Dassina Andel: Ohh, are we talking more of a central tracking of BV then?
Malice Shepherd: >_>
Aposiopesis Fullstop: And good old trial and error. There WAS a time before BV!
Dassina Andel: If THAT’S dynamic…. man. :3
Malice Shepherd: AH THE GOOD OLD DAYS
NeoBokrug Elytis: And I am probably going to completely avoid BV 6 + BV 3 + BV 1 = BV10 reward all together.
Malice Shepherd: WHEN WE SOLD CANNONS FOR THE SAME PRICE AS A MEDKIT
Memory Harker: “Boy, the way Glenn Sandling played …”
Candide LeMay: what is a dynamic BV good for? people don’t trade 1:1 BV anyway
NeoBokrug Elytis: I know it’s a hint, but with all the racial things and skills coming up, I feel too constrained in trying to make recipes match based on what works.
Dassina Andel: Ohhhh, it definitely can be good. :3
NeoBokrug Elytis: Right. BV was just an idea, and is mostly good for NPCs.
Malice Shepherd: Candide what if things that are stupid expensive suddenly get dropped in value due to lack of demand
Malice Shepherd: That would be good
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6) snickers
Dassina Andel: The consumption of various things fluctuates wildly from time to time. their BV now, certainly doesn’t reflect the actual “value” of the item.
Candide LeMay: will stuff like food % be based on this dynamic BV too?
NeoBokrug Elytis: So the slow march to WL2 is: Buffs/Debuffs update. Food Update. Races. Items Update. Weapons Update.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Food includes water
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): likes the idea of dynamic BV because trades are frequently based on what people have/need anyway
BlackWidow Sinister: does that mean we actually have to get “water” and drink it?
Candide LeMay: i mean a BV10 food gives you certain % of the food bar now. if the dynamic value drops to BV5 does it give you half of the % than before?

(Editor’s Note: In a follow-up with Neo about this question, he responded: I am probably going to decouple BV from food and hydration completely. Even ‘bad’ food and water will have uses. BV will be mostly geared toward other game mechanics for specific uses like NPCs. BV was originally used to distinguish between common, uncommon, and rare…now I want BV to matter in the sense of how much of a thing is circulating around, and what does the game itself think of it.)

Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): what there’s demand for, like fistful of rubble and chemical E
NeoBokrug Elytis: All items, I can dynamically update.
NeoBokrug Elytis: So I can change food on the fly.
Malice Shepherd: So like sometimes the food can be extra good
NeoBokrug Elytis: Like it has been a LONG hard road to just get this concept code to something that compiles and kind of works.
Memory Harker wipes a bit of food off her fly.
Dassina Andel: I love all of this that is on the horizon
NeoBokrug Elytis: But if I don’t like how an item performs as food, I can change it without forcing everyone to update.
Malice Shepherd: That is not how you eat Mem
Verity Goodnight: yess this is exciting
NeoBokrug Elytis: That’s the whole goal of of the “Universal Salvage Script”.
Dassina Andel: WL: Stok Market
NeoBokrug Elytis: All items will share the same code, and same bytecode on the region simulator.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I know it’s a lot of technical crap, but I am trudging through it now that I have space in the HUD.
Dassina Andel: If there’s eventually a way to see the dynamic BV of stuff currently in the game, or a way to link that value to the wiki, I just may hump your leg.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: So, unlike how you can eat an old BV: 0 candy now (if you’ve got one,) if you buy a future-food and you change its BV or mechanics afterward… the HUD will process it however today’s HUD processes it, not however the food item itself was hard-coded to behave?
NeoBokrug Elytis: There will undoubtably be growing pains, of which I assure you are not intentional.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Right.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): like *lots of turning in oldjunk :P
NeoBokrug Elytis: I doubt it Dass. I am completely avoiding an external server on this.
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): I assume that the fluctuations will have some story involved with them or seasonal stuff, not just that they will change and we find out because they changed?
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Is that something you’d announce, though? Or would it be, sorta, “Surprise, the thing that used to be a feast is a snack now?”
NeoBokrug Elytis: RM: Probably not seasonally.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Just a count of how things are used.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I would make updates known.
NeoBokrug Elytis: I hope to get it right the first time though.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): weekly value reports :P
NeoBokrug Elytis: Weekly is too short
Memory Harker: Pennysaver
Dassina Andel: I am so down for monthly.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Months go by fast, nowadays.
Malice Shepherd: Tri weekly
Malice Shepherd: That’s called age Apo
NeoBokrug Elytis: Before we start making those plans, let me just get it done first. :P
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): hah!
NeoBokrug Elytis: I got RL obligations as well.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Haha!
NeoBokrug Elytis: So I am still going at a pace I can handle.
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): Someone will publish a commodities tracker
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): ;)
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): is picturing all the alts dumping everything I’ve hoarded on Beezle so she can spend hours trading it all in :P
NeoBokrug Elytis: The Press *IS* looking for writers. :P
Malice Shepherd: Someone
Malice Shepherd: but not me
Aposiopesis Fullstop invests in Flatbread futures.
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): lol
Malice Shepherd: I will send in annoying back corner guest article material regularly for the press.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Any last questions about things.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): Sand Hippo Bellies?
NeoBokrug Elytis: No new items until I update existing items.
Candide LeMay: i have a game question but not related to the future
Malice Shepherd: Rant about the state of the Junkyard and the best way to kill ‘x’
BlackWidow Sinister: for food exchanges, perhaps we could have something like the “purse” that’s at the traders now? So we don’t have to drag thousands of items out of inventory?
NeoBokrug Elytis: You can. Buy one.
BlackWidow Sinister: perhaps I have one made by someone else
Dassina Andel: a.k.a. The Pack Rat Bag will work with future trade-in stuffs.
Candide LeMay: alden keeps giving me food rewards for the crate task, can you change him to hand out only non-foods? getting a bunch of fungus and mold is not adequate reward for spending 30EXP
Malice Shepherd: I have missed a lot. shit
NeoBokrug Elytis: Candide: I am keeping him as is.
NeoBokrug Elytis: You can only get certain items from him.
Candide LeMay: i’m talking about CRATE TASK, not general trading
NeoBokrug Elytis: Yes. So am I.
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6): With Saul gone, getting food from Alden wouldve been better anyway in my opinion
Candide LeMay: he didn’t use to give out food, i dunno why he’d handing out foods now
Dassina Andel: Alden’s crate task will always be a crap shoot on risk vs. reward.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: If you don’t like the odds, don’t gamble.
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): my tasks break sometimes and I lose 30 – I figure it’s part of the hell that is existing in the wastelands
Malice Shepherd: Maybe because he felt it was time to have someone hand out food because the other guy is gone
NeoBokrug Elytis: The crate task and other tasks are just a bonus thing for the game. Basically free loot.
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): spend 30xp, get crashed by a sim crossing \o/
Candide LeMay: 30epx is not free
Aposiopesis Fullstop: You get EXP from free crates.
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6): and crafting
Dassina Andel: 30 Exp is pretty easy to get, really. >.>
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6): I dont see how its that hard
Malice Shepherd: Guys I am not fucked up enough for this shit can we move along lol
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): hurts my li’l bunneh brain o.O
Dan Buffet (danbuffet): malice^
NeoBokrug Elytis: Okay, open floor for RP and events discussion.
Baalzuni (houndstrikerx6): Unless you got exp for killing people but thats a straight up exploit waiting to happen unless theres a cooldown on that
NeoBokrug Elytis: Baal is correct. ;)
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): lol, Baal, that’d be too much like URBAN DARK ROLEPLAY COMBAT (no furries)
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Thanks to everyone who came out to the Rondyvoo last week! And to everyone who hosted or participated in the events!
Storm Thunders: It’s the WL. If it seems fair? You found a bug.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Hahaha!
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): Thank you Apo, it was fun
NeoBokrug Elytis: I had a good time.
NeoBokrug Elytis: That barrel thing was funner than it should have been.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: I’m glad!
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): much hilarity was had, shame I missed a good chunk of it.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Haha, I picked it back up, but I might set it out again. :D
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): \o/
Memory Harker: :D
Aposiopesis Fullstop: It’s early yet, but also NEVER too early for Halloween – so let it be known that TRIGGER TREAT will take place again on Saturday, October 30! Lots of music, costume contest, all that good stuff. If you want to DJ (or play live,) lemme know!
NeoBokrug Elytis: For what it’s worth, Halloween plans are in motion already.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: !!
Beatrix (beatrix.washborne): will have to think about what to leave for treats o.O
Storm Thunders: excellent :D
Dassina Andel: Show me the Pumpkins.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: OH! Yeah, is the Trick Or Treating thing going to be a thing again this year? That was pretty swell.
Verity Goodnight: yessssssssssss
NeoBokrug Elytis: I should mod up the script for this year. :)
NeoBokrug Elytis puts that on the whiteboard
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Would it be possible to mod it so that the owner gets informed if someone’s clicked?
NeoBokrug Elytis: Possibly.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: Oh, and since it’s free, it could still be a random object despite the Gacha rules?
NeoBokrug Elytis: It is free, so it can be random.
Malice Shepherd: It isnt gambling if it is free.
NeoBokrug Elytis: Kinda bummed we’re having War Zone instead of Fight Night with new tiles; but I’ll meet those who want to play Warzone in Fort Stygian. :)
Storm Thunders: Yep. Gacha requires money.
Aposiopesis Fullstop: NEW FLAG, though!
Malice Shepherd: I wanna go watch
RM Beedit (rmarie.beedit): Thanks Neo
NeoBokrug Elytis: If I remembered to keep a copy!
Aposiopesis Fullstop: You wanna go MURDER!
NeoBokrug Elytis: Thanks for coming everyone, sorry I went on and on and on. Lot’s of stuff going on.
